This is how the back of my pillow covers look.
The pillow back is designed to have an overlapping back to keep pillow from popping out of the cover and lay smooth. This style is great because it is smooth, soft and squeezable, no zippers or buttons. Notice that the back fabric matches the front and there is no pillow insert showing on the back.
